I’m running low on Minions at Work Classic cartoons to repost. I don’t know how low, because I don’t have a precise inventory. I’d originally figured that I should be able to run through mid-July, but that was posting seven days a week, and I cut back to five days a while back, so that buys me some time. But we’re low, and given that my new building is behind schedule, making shooting new comics problematic (but not impossible), I’m wondering what to do to fill in.
One idea I’ve had is to do “Remastered” versions of old comics. I would go back to the original photography, where possible, and redo them in higher resolution and the new style, with word balloons and other enhancements, possible with revised and expanded dialogue, and maybe even multiple panel expansions in some cases. Here’s my first take at a “remaster.” Not hugely changed from the original, but at MUCH higher resolution than has been seen anywhere (except maybe our 2009 “Minions at Work” calendar) before. Hope you enjoy. Let me know what you think of the idea.
Meanwhile I’m STILL working to get you one new cartoon a week until the building is done and we can start our full relaunch.
Reusing shoots with new material is a great idea! You should start building up a stock of those. Whenever you get another idea for something different for a shoot, add it. Then you’ve got filler for off days, bonus material, etc.
That’s exactly what I’m doing! That’s part of why the run up to the full reboot is going so slow. Whenever I go to the trouble of putting together a new set, I’m shooting literally hundreds of photos, from different angles, with characters in different positions and poses, and sometimes even using different combinations of characters. Since I currently only have room to put up one set at a time (except when I do things like the outdoor shoot I posted the other day. So soon, I hope to have a big library of photos built up that I can use to make fill-in cartoons while I build more sets and props. But it’s an uphill climb to get that library built!
