Gravity is Not Your Friend
(Holiday cartoons resume after the weekend.)
This is a very “Minions 2.0” panel in that I used a photo background and edited the catwalk and figures into it in the computer. This is also an example of “lairs are where you find them.” This photo was taken on a trip to San Diego Comicon. Or more correctly, the way OUT from San Diego Comicon. We had left the convention center and were trying to get a train back to the stadium where our car was parked. Naturally, it was rush hour on Friday, and the express train wasn’t running, so we had to transfer, and this was the station where we were stuck, tired and hot, waiting for the next train. I found myself looking up at the very interesting ceiling design, and so I took a picture. That’s right, this isn’t a wall, it’s a ceiling, and the “windows” are skylights. I decided the angle suggested looking down from a great height, and I happened to have an existing shot of No. 1 and Number 2 looking off the catwalk that I could use, and the cartoon came together. The only problem was that the picture didn’t allow for the usual placement for the cartoon title logo, so that got moved down to the lower middle.
Also note: Doctor Coldblood is referenced in this strip, but does not actually appear…
